‘Boars heading for 2018’ research
, a treasure trove of information for pig farmers

The five-year research programme ‘Boars Heading for 2018’ offers pig farmers who would like to stop castrating a treasure trove of information and advice. For example, small group sizes and good accommodation have a (positive) influence on boar behaviour. Feed quality, water availability and the farmer’s behaviour can also influence the animals’ behaviour. The research demonstrated that there is no relationship between boars’ (often boisterous) behaviour and preventing boar taint.

Detailed information can be obtained straight from the researcher in question. The (English-language) research report and contact details are available at boars2018.com.
